THE ART OF SUCCESS PART 2

SECRETS OF SUCCESS:-

Make yourself the star of your workplace. For this you must have clear and precise objectives to be achieved within a definite time-frame. Always respect and value time. Be result-oriented and keep track of the hours. Monitor every minute of your professional and leisure time. Respect the time of other as well as your won. Be always organized and and write down everything you want to accomplish. Keep a list of your objectives, your lists of tasks to be done and your daily planners with you. Prioritize and approach your tasks in a descending order of importance. The most important work should get the highest priority in the days’s agenda. Other items should follow. Always focus on the task at hand. Each task should be given undivided attention. Do not clutter your mind with the things that could be done later or things already completed in the past. Simply concentrate on the task at hand. But before taking up a task make sure that it fits in well within your overall long-term objectives. It should be worth your time and attention. Chalk out a strategy for attaining your objectives successful. Always be on the look out for method to improve your working. Update your skills constantly. You cannot do everything. Delegation of some tasks is one method of accomplishing more. You cannot always be successful. Home your judgement and know when to quit. If you can do this, you will know when to call it quits and move forward without any anxiety, tension or guilt. Flexibility is a great quality. Result-oriented people are realists. Time is not something solid. It is fluid. Like everything in life, schedules change constantly. Achievers get pleasure from shuffling tasks and still meeting their obligations on time. You can develop the habit of getting results from your efforts. It is a question of  developing skills through practice. Check yesterday’s list against today’s reality to assess how close you are to goals have set for yourself. Always make an assessment of yesterday’s ‘To Do’ list to crosscheck how realistic it has tuned out be today. This will help you to avoid or rectify mistakes, if any,in your planning. Keep on visualizing your goals and lists of the tasks to be done. Close your eyes and view yourself doing the activity that you have chosen. Determine how long will it take and assess your odds of success. Do this for every activity on your To Do list. This will enable you to modify, if necessary, your schedule in the light of changing priorities and make it more realistic get into the habit of setting daily goals, achieving them and experiencing the thrill of fulfillment  Shut the door on frequent interruptions and disturbances. Always try to be more productive and have a system to find out whether your efforts are generating an output in proportion to the amount of time you are spending on a particular task or a project. It is best to time your tasks either with a stop-watch or by logging time for each throughout the day. I prefer to use two watches and one of them is always in the stop watch mode so that I am fully conscious of the time I should spend on exercise, a dinner or any other social function. Pay attention to the clock and regulate your timings. Work on your doubts which is another name for buts. We all have them. For improving your results and skills, identify and address your personal buts. The more you can eliminate such angularities, the better and smoother your life will become. Always aim at making a contribution. Self-police the meetings you attend by asking yourself, ‘ How can I contribute more? Am I contributing anything worthwhile to such meeting? Be fully prepared so that you can make a substantive contribution whether it is at meeting or social functions. Remind yourself of your goals. Read them aloud every day to make them tangible and personal. This way you will be able to maintain a high level of motivation.
AIM TO DO YOUR BEST
Most of the time we pressurize ourselves and our life to achieve perfection. We strive to have perfect children, perfect houses, perfect husbands or perfect wives and a perfect work environment, unfortunately, in an imperfect world. It is just not possible to be perfect all the time. This approach can sabotage our life as well as delay achieving our ambitions or fulfilling dreams as we wait for perfect conditions. Absolute perfection exists only in our imagination. On the one hand it can keep us from working to realize our dreams because we are waiting for everything to be ‘just right’. On the other hand, even if we do achieve our dreams we might think that our efforts were not good enough. In our minds we will still feel as if we have failed because we think that we could have done better. It is good to aim at perfection but it should not be pursued to such an extent that it destroys your chances of happiness. It should not prevent you from working towards your, ambitions and dreams. It should be followed in a way that does not strip away your confidence and feeling of achievement of anything you might have attained. Do not allow the quest for perfection to ruin your life because whatever you do you will always feel that you could have done better. Never be harsh on yourself. Make your standards and goal realistic. Always keep yourself alert. Set the bottom lines as to what you can live with and what you can do without. Ask yourself the question whether you are trying to prove anything to yourself or to others? Only self-introspection can make you perfect and rid you of your apprehensions. Do not allow happiness- destroying thoughts to stand between you and your success. Ascertain the reasons why you have not realized your dreams so far. Study your behaviour and the steps you should take to tackle difficult circumstances and your difficult feelings. Once you take concrete steps to face your depressing feelings you can change your life as well as your restricting approach to any stressful behaviour. Always be on the look out to learn about yourself by examining your past performance and actions. This process will enable you to change yours beliefs and behaviours. Remember that life is beautiful. Have faith in it and in your yourself. Keep your faith all the time. Remember that the sun may remain hidden only for a little while and spring will certainly come.
‘‘ Do not allow the quest for perfection to ruin your life because whatever you do you will always feel that you could have done better.’’
